The 54th Annual City Prayer Breakfast, held on Wednesday, 11th October 2023, brought together over 250 attendees in person, with many more joining online. The event was marked by a warm atmosphere, a hearty breakfast, uplifting worship, and engaging sessions from various charities, all centred around time for prayer.
We had the honour of hearing from Professor John Lennox, Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at Oxford University and Emeritus Fellow in Mathematics and Philosophy of Science at Green Templeton College. Professor Lennox delivered a thought-provoking talk titled “A Good Return: Why Do I Work?” His insights resonated deeply with attendees, offering a stimulating and relevant perspective on the biblical principles of work, wealth, and wisdom. For those who missed it, his book, "A Good Return: Biblical Principles of Work, Wealth and Wisdom," remains available online and might even make a thoughtful Christmas gift.
In addition to the live event, Professor Lennox recorded a special interview with Amy Orr-Ewing in the Prayer Room at Holy Sepulchre London, surrounded by the inspiring motto “Domine Dirige Nos” (Lord guide us) of the City of London. This interview, kindly facilitated by Premier Christian Radio, offers further insights and is available for viewing via the attached link.
The 2023 City Prayer Breakfast was a powerful reminder of the importance of gathering as a community to reflect on our work and faith, and we look forward to many more such enriching events in the years to come.
